The antibiotics crisis isn’t the fault of science – it’s market failure

Against a background of rising drug-resistant infections, Singapore has just leveraged its scientific, regulatory and implementation strengths to update its National Strategic Action Plan on antimicrobial resistance. Professor Hsu Li Yang, Director of the Asia Centre for Health Security at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, underscores how long-term progress, however, will depend on collective regional and global resolve to ensure antibiotics, as well as other complementary strategies, keep pace with antimicrobial resistance.
